Stormy Weather

Late Wednesday night, Austin was hit with thunderstorms and funnel clouds. I was woken up in the middle of the night when golf ball sized hail pelted our roof. It wasn't until the next morning that I realized the true impact of the storm.

I knew something was wrong when our neighbor, Clayton S., rang our door bell at 7:00AM. Jared answered the door to Clayton asking, "what are you going to do about the damage?" What damage?, Jared thought until he walked outside. Our front yard looked like a war zone. Green leaves and 3-6 ft. tree branches covered every inch of the street, driveways, and yards. Then, he saw the huge branch that fell on our roof right over Peanut's room. On the other side of our house, another enormous branch fell on Morrie and Carol G.'s stone gate.

Jared and all of our neighbors were outside staring in disbelief at the fallen trees when I peeked out our front door in my nightgown. I was devastated when I saw the tree on our roof, especially since it was right on top of Peanut's room. All I could think was thank goodness he is still sleeping in our room. I would probably never sleep again during a storm if Peanut would've been in his room that night. Even so, I'm still moving him into our room for the next few storms.

It took Jared, a couple of our neighbors, and a very sharp chain saw over 2 hours to cut the tree off our house. We escaped with little to no damage to our roof.
