Happy 6 Months Birthday, Simon!

Time surely has flown by. We celebrated Peanut's half birthday today with lunch at Mighty Fine Burger. Even though our guest of honor slept through his luncheon, Jared and I still serenaded him with the Happy Birthday song.

Peanut continues to make our hearts melt everyday with his giggles and affection. Milestones for this month are:
  • Sitting minutes at a time.
  • Forgetting to notify his arms that his legs are crawling, in turn, plowing his face into the floor.
  • Continuing to fall asleep on his own, but extending his sleep to 10-12 hours a night (I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this aloud).
  • Enjoying solid foods like bananas, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash so much that he will cry because mommy cannot feed him fast enough.
  • Squealing in delight as he bounces in his jolly jumper and listens to his French La Veritable Histoire de Babar CD.
WELLNESS CHECKUP
Peanut got another round of inoculations at today's wellness checkup and seems to be doing fine.

His 6 Month Statistics:
Weight: 18 lbs (50-75th%)
Height: 27 inches (50-75th%)
Head: 44.2 cm (75th%)
He is very proportionate again. The doctor said it is normal for babies to have a growth spurt in months 3-4, then go back to normal at 6 months. If you remember, Peanut ranked in the 90th percentile for weight and height at his 4 month visit.

Nana Ruthie Pooh noticed during her visit in July that Peanut has double-jointed thumbs and wanted me to make sure to ask about them. I learned it's uncommon both his thumbs are double-jointed and that it's the joint that connects the thumb to the hand. Apparently, it's more common to see it in the joint in the middle of thumb. His doctor asked if he could pick up fine objects and grab toys. I told her he could do both. Peanut can pick up his pacifier with this index and thumb, then put it into his mouth. Knowing this, his doctor told me not to be concerned. He'll just be that kid in class who can do cool tricks with his thumbs. We're going to keep an eye on it to make sure all is well.
