Happy 40th Jared

My husband turned forty this year and I wanted to make it extra special with what seemed like a week long celebration starting off with a spectacular, surprise dinner. Live Maine lobsters from Jared's Uncle Stanley. When Stanley offered to have some shipped to us, it did not sink in that they would be ALIVE until it was too late. I'm the type of person that catches bugs and gently releases them back into the wild, the thought of "taking care" of these lobsters almost made me pass out.

Somehow, I managed to tackle two by myself, but had to call in the reinforcements (Morrie from next door) to help me with the other two.

All that hard work paid off because Jared was very surprised. Thank goodness I had four hours to pull myself back together after I sent our four visitors to lobster heaven.

It wouldn't be a birthday without cake. I made Jared's favorite, cockeyed cake, which he gets once a year on this special day.
