Better late than never. I started this post a month ago and am finally finding time to sit down to finish it.
Without further ado, happy 15.5 months birthday Peanut!

I'm happy to report that Peanut's doing very well. At his 15 month checkup, I learned that we have a healthy and curious little boy who's doing a lot of things that other kids 18-21 months would. Our little champ got his DTaP, Prevnar, and HIB vaccines with a little scream right as the needles pierced his skin, but calmed down immediately after I picked him up.
Child rearing is a constant adventure with new developmental milestones that really keep us on our toes. Amongst them are:
- Climbing: If Peanut's foot can reach, he will climb it. The climbing part's fine, it's the walking on furniture, jumping from one piece to the next, and leaning over arm rests to pick up a toy that make my blood pressure rise.
- Temper: Yes, he has one and is not afraid to show us. Right now tantrums are easily pacified with a simple redirect, but the 15 month tantrum is definitely more dramatic than the 13 month tantrum.
Those stressful milestones only make you cherish the cute ones more; and this doting mom has plenty of those to brag about. Bear with me as I present:
- Speak your mind: Peanut's vocabulary consists of about 25 English and Vietnamese words. Despite being the smallest person in the house, Peanut makes sure we know his 25 pound body is in the room. Very vocal, he seems to understand everything we say, he just chooses not to obey most of the time. It's always a fun surprise seeing what he's learned whether it's pointing to something in a book, listening to our command, or just a random act.
- Mama mia: I finally heard the word that I've only dreamt about ... mama. It is the sweetest sound. (I am sure I will regret putting this down in writing.)
- Parrot: When someone coughs, sneezes, or belches (Jared!), Peanut imitates it.
- Peanut-O Blahniks: This boy is obsessed with bringing me my shoes. If he spots my shoes sitting around the house, he will bring them to me and will not relent until I put them on. It started with "mom, put on your shoes so we can go outside". "Outside" doesn't seem like the goal anymore, leading me to believe Peanut may be developing a shoe fetish.
This month, Peanut also got his lower first molar on the right side of his mouth. This tooth snuck in very quietly, with no pain at all.
Peanut's new loves are playing outside and food. If allowed, Peanut would spend all day outside, picking up leaves, climbing the stairs in our backyard, and ignoring the ball. However, Peanut is such a white boy and can't handle the Texas heat like his Vietnamese brethren. His cheeks are so flushed after only 35 minutes outside. It seriously looks like he's about to have a heat stroke.
The boy can eat! I purposefully wait until after lunch to take Peanut to the grocery store, but it never fails that as soon as we set foot inside HEB, I look down and see Peanut signing "eat". He will literally eat his way through the store. Whether its snacks I bring or samples at the Cooking Connection, his mouth is always full. Luckily, he still isn't picky and love his veggies, fruit, tofu, and everything else we give him.

awww that is too cute. I bet hearing those words "Mama" is just awesome to your heart.
I'm glad he's learning Vietnamese. There was this halfie Korean guy at my church last Sunday and he told me he spoke Korean fluently.
