A lightbulb seems to have switched on in Peanut's head. I'm not sure if it's preschool or just turning twenty-one months, but new words, names, and short sentences are constantly erupting from his mouth. Everyday Peanut surprises with something new.
My favorites are:
- I got it.
- Cupcake, mmm, good.
- Thank you daddy (or mommy). (In both Vietnamese and English.)
- Oh shoot.
He also makes up his own, such as "helmet car" which means motorcycle.
Peanut's favorite things this month are:
- Drawing. (Yes, his name is Simon and he likes to do drawings.)
- Watching Elmo's Song and Alphabet Rap on YouTube.
- Sharing a bowl of see-ah-ah [cereal] with daddy.
- Wearing mom's and dad's shoes.

I've been struggling with Peanut's need for independence. Example 1: Peanut demands to feed himself, which I'm all for, but if my hand gets anywhere near his spoon, he freaks out. I guess he thinks I'm going to try and feed him, god forbid. Example 2: Choosing what to wear is a big ordeal every morning. Lately it's been refusing to wear tennis shoes. He only wants black suede dress shoes and white sweat socks. (You can see them above in the driving photo, worn with sweat pants.)
The flip side is, Mr. Independence is putty in dad's hands. He's incredibly attached to J and when dad's home, mom is non-existent or as I like to say, taking a mom-cation.
Peanut's next checkup is at age of two, but his unofficial weight according to our bathroom scale is 28 lbs. He's wearing size 8 shoes, 2T shirts, and 12-18 month bottoms.

I am also chopped liver when Daddy is around. (Secretly, this does not bother me.) I also get in big trouble if I even mention "helping" with feeding! (God forbid is right!) Love the socks and shoes. Stylin'. Happy Birthday Simon!
heheh I like his choice of clothing. That's really cute.
