Happy 46 Months Peanut!

Peanut is such a little character. From the moment he wakes up, he is animated, happy, and questions everything.

This little boy has a sweet tooth and loves to help in the kitchen. Here he is helping Nana Ruthie Pooh make her delicous creme caramel for Thanksgiving, the recipe, which I have been sworn to secrecy.

Here he is as a superhero-magician-engineer pulling Thomas through the house with his trike. Peanut tied Thomas to the bike by himself. By the way, Peanut's fascinated with magic and thinks his daddy is so cool because daddy can pull pennies out of his ear. Peanut continues to be afraid of animals, but is slowly getting more comfortable. He loved the goats at the Houston Zoo's petting area because they just lay there like statues.
This year, Peanut is very curious about Christmas and Santa Claus. He's been asking when Santa is coming to our house and where is our Christmas tree. I tried to explain that we celebrate Hannukah, but it just doesn't have the same appeal as Christmas. Peanut's class is currently talking about celebrations around the world and celebrations in the home. I'm in charge of scheduling parents and other speakers to talk to his class and got lucky because I have volunteers sharing traditions including a Sufi chant with drums to Mexican posadas to Slovak Christmas traditions. The kids are being exposed to all different celebrations, including Hannukah. The mom who came to talk about Hannukah did a great job and got Peanut really excited about it. Since then, I've only been asked about Christmas and Santa 90% of the time.

Here's Peanut as Santa Claus pulling his sleigh filled with toys for all the little boys and girls. Tonight, he ran around the house with the wagon tied to his waist, at first pretending to be Santa's reindeer, and then somehow the reindeer turned into Santa.

There's no lack of imagination with Peanut. Lately, he's been making me play the David/Simon game. David is my best friend's 7 year old son, whom Peanut idolizes. Here's the game:

Peanut: Mommy, I'm David and you're Simon and Simon says to David, David I'm scared of the scary skeleton. And David says, I'm a nice scary skeleton. Then Simon says, do you like my scooter scary skeleton? And David says, I do Simon and I have one too. Do you want to ride together? Then Simon says .... [it goes on and on and on.]

Peanut gives me a minimum of 10 lines to remember in less than 5 minutes and gets mad when I don't get them right! I hope the David/Simon game goes away soon.

The other thing Peanut likes to do is invite and unvite people to his (imaginary) birthday party. Don't piss him off because you'll be dropped like a bad habit so quickly you won't know what hit you. J and I get invited and uninvited at least 15 times a day. "Mommy, I guess you don't want to come to my birthday party. Only daddy and Stella can come, but not you Mommy." My response, "Simon, without me, there'd be no birthday party." Yeah, I have no shame and don't care if he's three, mama don't back down!
