Hot in Boston

Weather reports showed 97 degrees in Boston and 83 degrees in Austin.  That's not a typo.

These four Texans were melting during the heat wave that hit the north east a couple of weeks ago.  We managed to find some cool things to do indoors and outdoors.

Peanut whined the entire time we walked across the Longfellow Bridge (above) from Cambridge to Boston, but managed to crack a smile after he cooled down in the Frog Pond (below).

On a hot summer's day, this public wading pool was an oasis in the Boston Commons.

Rocky is a much better sport when it comes to heat.  Here she is getting a ride on Mrs. Mallard of Make Way for Ducklings.

I love science museums and so do my kids.  Our last one was the Cite des Enfants in Paris, just to be followed up by the Museum of Science in Boston.  Not too shabby.  Rocky is posing in front of a huge slice of petrified wood, which I never knew was so beautiful.  I wonder if I can add this to my Amazon Wish List.

Scientist Rocky is showing us her soapy bubble blowing skills.  Keep rocking those safety glasses, girl.

What are those three staring at on T-Rex?

Duck Tour Captains Peanut and The Joker.  I don't know who's the better driver.

There's no better way of cooling down than with some mango ice cream and coconut sorbet.  We lucked out because Toscanini's Ice Cream, which according to the New York Times has "The Best Ice Cream in the World", was right across the street from our hotel in Cambridge.
